Welcome to Arts Alive! In regards to your personal info, we aim to be transparent about what we collect, why we collect it, and how we use it. As a nonprofit, we're only focused on the information we need to keep you updated about the festival, applications, and – when appropriate – shipping posters and T-shirts to you.

1. What We need to know and Why

When you buy something from our shop, we have to collect some information to ensure your order gets to you.

  • Shipping Details: We ask for your name, mailing address, and email address. We need these to ship your order and send you a confirmation email with tracking info. The phone number is optional, but it can be helpful if there's a problem with your delivery.

  • Automatic Stuff: Like most websites, we automatically collect some info when you visit. This includes things like your IP address and what browser you're using. We use this to make sure our site is working right and to protect against fraud, not to spy on you.

  • Updates: Whether you’re a park artist, a gallery artist, an emerging artist, or a community member, we want to make sure you know all of the important deadlines. When you provide your email address, you allow us to keep you updated – but never spam.

  • Age Requirement: You must be at least 18 years old to make a purchase from our site. We don't knowingly collect any information from people under 18. If we find out that a user is under 18, we will delete their information and cancel their order.

2. How We Use Your Info

We use your info for two reasons: to keep you informed, and to send you your beautiful posters and T-shirts.

  • Email Updates: We use your info to keep you updated about deadlines and announce important aspects of the Arts Alive Festival.

  • Order Fulfillment: We use your personal contact info to process your payment, pack your order, and ship it to you.

  • Customer Support: If you have a question or an issue, we use your email address (or phone number when appropriate) to get back to you.

3. Who We Share Your Info With

We don’t sell your information. Period. We only share it with a few trusted partners who help us run our business and get your order to you. Details of how and when we would share are listed in the bullets below:

  • Payment Processors: Your payment info is handled securely by our payment partner Squarespace Payments. We never see or store your credit card details.

  • Legal Stuff: In rare cases, we might have to share your info if a law, court order, or government request requires us to.

4. Our Friends, the Cookies (and Other Techy Stuff)

Like most websites, our site uses little pieces of data called cookies. Think of them as tiny digital memory helpers. They make sure your shopping cart remembers what you added and that the site works smoothly.

Since our site is hosted by Squarespace, they use some of these cookies for us. They fall into two main types (you can read more about cookies and Squarespace here):

  • "Necessary" Cookies: These are the ones we absolutely need to make the site function. For example, they keep track of your cart as you browse and process your checkout. Without them, the site just wouldn't work.

  • "Analytics" Cookies: These are non-essential and help us understand how people are using our site. They tell us things like which pages are the most popular, how many people visit us, and where they're coming from. This information is anonymous and helps us improve our site for you.

You have control over these. Squarespace has a built-in cookie banner that lets you accept or decline the analytics cookies. You can always change your preferences in the footer of our site.

5. Keeping Your Info

We'll hold onto your personal info for as long as we need it to fulfill your order, keep in contact about the festival, and for our business records. If you ever want us to delete your info, just ask!

6. You're in Control

You have the right to know what information we have about you, ask us to correct it, or even delete it. Just send us an email at info@alabamaartsalive.com. We'll do our best to help you out.

7. Updates to This Policy

We might update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll post the new version here.

8. Questions?

If you're still curious about our privacy practices, please email us at info@alabamaartsalive.com. We're happy to chat!
